With so much still up in the air for their side from now until the end of the season, you can perhaps understand why Tottenham Hotspur supporters might not be particularly too keen on ‘daring to dream’ with such a tense Premier League run-in still awaiting ahead.
But instead of boosting the several feet of column inches adding to the cloud of negativity that currently seems to sit above White Hart Lane at the moment, we’ve decided to divulge in a careless orgy of optimism, instead. Because should Andre Villas-Boas’ side manage to attain Champions League qualification this season, while the implications could be quite severe should they fail, they will perhaps be entering uncharted territory in terms of the platform they’ll have to push on towards.
With the likes of Gareth Bale, Hugo Lloris, Jan Vertonghen and Mousa Dembele already at the club, elite European football – not to mention the riches that come with it, too – will give Spurs the chance to add genuine, world-class quality to their squad. And given the players already at their disposal, there is a school of thought that with the right investment and the right handful of players, the Lilywhites might not a million miles away of potentially even mounting their very first assault on the title of the Premier League era. Utter nonsense or realistic pipedream?
Lining up in a 4-3-3 formation, flick through our dream Spurs XI that we think – with a few costly acquisitions – could tilt them towards the top of the Premier League table.
