“It’s not easy for me to leave the team at this important time,” Son told Sky Sports.
“I feel very sad and sorry but I want to win this game and go with confidence to Dubai.
“To play for your country is always a proud moment, but it’s tough for me having missed one month of the season already.
“I want to go with three points, with confidence to Dubai.”
Son has been superb for Spurs thus far this season, scoring eight Premier League goals, and providing six assists, in just 16 appearances.
Point to prove
Son is known as one of the most likeable, and affable, Premier League stars out there, but he has a point to prove against United.
The winger was on international duty the last time the two sides met, with Spurs running out comfortable 3-0 winners at Old Trafford.
But he is in such a rich vein of form that his new-found motivation should prove terrifying for United’s defenders.
All of Son’s eight goals this season have come in his last nine outings, while he has also provided five assists in that timeframe.
CheekySport’s Joel claims Spurs badly need to invest in January after not having “the balls” to beat Arsenal. Check out his uncensored opinion in the video below…
Along with Harry Kane, Son is a deadly attacking weapon in Spurs’ armoury and has proved that he relishes big games; his first goal of the season was a phenomenal solo strike against Chelsea.
He will be missed when he heads off, particularly given that he will miss the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Chelsea, but Spurs will believe that they can cope.
Against United, he might just prove them wrong.
