Southampton are preparing to return for Dutch international Bruno Martins Indi this month, according to MailOnline.
Saints boss Ronald Koeman tried to sign the 22-year-old in the summer but eventually lost out to Porto, who paid Feyenoord £6million for his services.
But Koeman has not given up on signing the Dutchman, who can play both centre-back and full-back, and is confident he can tempt him to the Premier League.
But the defender has made it no secret that he hopes to one day link back up with Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal, who he played under for Holland in last summer’s World Cup.
Indi said previously: “Spiritually I have contact with Van Gaal.
“I think about him and I think he also thinks about me.”
