Southampton fans react as Cedric Soares provides injury update

Southampton defender Cedric Soares posted on his official Twitter account that he is set to miss the “next few games” after going off injured in the 1-0 defeat against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, and Saints fans were quick to respond to the update.

The Portugal international started in a right wing-back role against the Premier League holders, but he was replaced by Mario Lemina in the 17th minute after picking up an injury following a challenge by Blues captain Gary Cahill.

The 26-year-old had already missed the games against Bournemouth and Arsenal earlier in December with a hamstring problem, and his latest message suggests he will miss the games against Huddersfield Town, Tottenham Hotspur and potentially Manchester United too over the festive period.

Southampton supporters took to social media to respond to Cedric’s post, and while one said they were “gutted”, another said “we need you back as soon as possible”.
