There is one man who is dominating the Southampton social media channels on Wednesday, and that is Manolo Gabbiadini.

The 26-year-old scored what could be the goal that retains the club's Premier League status.

Mark Hughes's side knew that they had to defeat Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday night in order to stay afloat.

The pressure was heavy on the coastal club's shoulders, but a hit from Gabbiadini in the 72nd minute was enough to save their skin for another day.

In fact, the 1-0 victory sent West Bromwich Albion down into the Championship, joining Stoke City in the process.

Swansea now need results to go their way in order to avoid the drop, but Southampton's safety is all but secured.

It has been a dismal campaign for the Saints, who had a managerial shift in March when Mauricio Pellegrino was replaced with Hughes.

The tide seemed to turn following a 2-1 victory over Bournemouth, but then they were brought back down to earth with a thud when Tom Davies nabbed a late equaliser for Everton.

On Tuesday night, though, the Saints managed to get the job done, and unsurprisingly, Gabbiadini - valued at £13.5m by Transfermarkt - stole focus.
