After a devastating collapse against Brighton on Monday, fans weren’t particularly hopeful of a result at Anfield when they saw Hughes’ starting eleven.

The boss elected for a 4-5-1 formation, with the hopes of striking the hosts on the counter attack with the pace of Shane Long and Nathan Redmond.

The game plan went out the window almost immediately though, as a comical own goal from Wesley Hoedt put Liverpool in front after just ten minutes.

Some poor zonal defending allowed Joel Matip to double the lead 12 minutes later, and Mohamed Salah poked home from close range to make it 3-0 before half time.

While the Saints saw a lot more of the ball in the second half, they managed just one shot on target, and fans think it’s time for Hughes to go.

The boss did an excellent job to stave off relegation when he joined last season, but with just one win from six league games the pressure is most definitely on.
