Many will believe that the Premier League is beginning to see Jurgen Klopp’s game plan, tactical methods and style of play since the German arrived at Anfield. As a result, the Liverpool fans are beginning to believe a place in next season’s Europa League is a realistic aim and some are even dreaming of finishing in the top four.
Meanwhile Ronald Koeman’s Southampton are also targeting a place in next season’s Europa League after a brief stint in the competition at the start of this season.
The Saints have lost just once in their last six games at home and have not lost three consecutive home games against Liverpool since December 1996.
Southampton will also look to utilise Italian striker’s Graziano Pelle’s recent goal scoring touch after his brace away at Stoke City last week. Furthermore, Southampton have scored 12 headed goals this season which is more than any other team in the Premier League.
But Liverpool would ideally like a repeat of their last outing to St. Mary’s where they trumped Southampton 6-1 in the Capital One Cup earlier this season. The Reds have won four of their last six games, averaging three goals in that run and are looking to win four consecutive games for the first time since March last year.
