The centre-mid is just 20 years of age but has already made 56 appearances in the German top flight and represented the Danish national team on 14 occasions.
However, only 17 of those Bundesliga outings were for parent club Bayern Munich, with Hojbjerg spending the last 18 months out on loan at Augsburg and Schalke.
The youngster made 30 appearances across all competitions for the latter club last season, including six outings in the Europa League.
He’s set to leave the Allianz Arena this summer and agent Soren Lerby has already confirmed his client will make a transfer to St. Mary’s.
As quoted by Sky Sports, he recently told Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet; “Yes, I can confirm that Pierre will switch to Southampton.”
And according to Sky Sports, Bayern Munich director Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has now confirmed the former Brondby starlet will undergo a medical with the Saints today.
It’s believed the deal will be worth £12.8million.
