Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to react after The Daily Mail reported that Che Adams wants to stay at St Mary's and fight for his place, amid talk that the striker might depart the club this month.Adams only joined the Saints back in the summer in a deal worth £15m from Birmingham, although The Athletic's Leeds correspondent Phil Hay reported on Sunday that the Southampton hierarchy are open to letting him leave if they receive a £1m loan fee and an obligation to buy the forward for 'more than £10m' in the summer is agreed.

"Hasenhuttl wants Adams to stay, saying on Friday that Southampton would “need him in the second half of the season”, but The Athletic understands Southampton’s hierarchy are more open to letting Adams go, for a loan fee of £1 million and an obligation to sign Adams permanently for more than £10 million at the end of the season. Leeds are ready to meet those demands and Adams, who is keen to take the move to Elland Road, has been considering forcing the issue himself by informing Hasenhuttl of his desire to leave."

Hay also added that Ralph Hasenhuttl, contrastingly, wants the 23-year-old to stay, although Adams is keen on a move to Leeds.

Now, however, The Daily Mail have revealed that the Englishman is determined to stay and fight for his place at Southampton after holding reassuring talks with the former RB Leipzig boss.

Adams is yet to score for the Saints since his big-money move, with just a single assist to show for his efforts in 19 appearances across all competitions this term.
