With 26 days of the January transfer window behind us, Southampton are yet to make a signing.

Towards the end of December, Ralph Hasenhuttl said that "we will do something" about the full-back positions in the market, although recently, the former RB Leipzig boss sounded like he was backtracking when playing down the need for more additions.

So far, the Saints have been linked with a number of fresh faces.

One of those is Tottenham right-back Kyle Walker-Peters who, according to Football Insider, Southampton are in pole position to sign ahead of Crystal Palace.

Another two defenders linked with moves to St Mary's are Fulham left-back Joe Bryan and Real Valladolid centre-back Mohammed Salisu - the Cottagers man has had a £7m asking price slapped on his head, while the latter is believed to have a £10.2m release clause.

Further up the field, Southampton have been linked with a swoop for QPR attacker Bright Osayi-Samuel, who is out of contract in the summer.

Let's see how Hasenhuttl could fit them all into his starting XI...

Now, just for the record, this isn't to say that the quartet will shove Cedric, Ryan Bertrand, Jack Stephens and Stuart Armstrong aside - this XI is merely to see how the reported targets could fit in should they make the move.

On the right of defence, Cedric is out of contract in the summer and has told The Telegraph that he is looking to leave St Mary's at the end of the season, so Walker-Peters would ensure that Hasenhuttl has someone who can provide competition for the Portugal international for the rest of this season along with Yan Valery, who has been missing since November with a viral illness.

Salisu could come in alongside Jan Bednarek to provide serious competition to him and Stephens, seeing as Southampton's other two centre-backs in Jannik Vestergaard and Maya Yoshida are up for sale and soon-to-be out of contract respectively.

At left-back, Ryan Bertrand is the only senior figure in that role at the club, with 19-year-old Jake Vokins another man potentially capable of playing in the position - the teenager started and scored against Huddersfield in the cup recently, although Hasenhuttl said that he has more to learn from a defensive aspect.

Call yourself a Premier League expert? How much did each of these big-money January signings cost?

On the right, Osayi-Samuel - who has made 12 appearances in the position for QPR this term - would provide an alternative to Armstrong out wide with his raw pace and directness, whereas the Scotland international is nowhere near as quick - the R's forward would be a handy 'Plan B' for Hasenhuttl.

It remains to be seen who arrives at St Mary's this month - if anybody - although if these four deals did come off, here is an insight as to how the Austrian coach could incorporate them into his side.
