According to Sky Sports, West Ham have made an initial offer of £10m with £2m worth of add-ons for Nottingham Forest star Matty Cash, who is also on the radar of Southampton and Italian giants AC Milan.

What's the word, then?

Well, Sky Sports are reporting that the Hammers have made a significant move in this three-way transfer tug of war over the Nottingham Forest man.

Cash has enjoyed an excellent season in his new role of right-back after being transformed into a defender by Sabri Lamouchi - last season, the 22-year-old operated further up the field having made 30 appearances on the right wing.

In 27 Championship outings this term, Forest's No.11 has scored two goals while grabbing four assists, while also winning two WhoScored Man of the Match awards - it has definitely been an impressive campaign so far.

Daniel Taylor - a senior football writer for The Athletic - added that the Hammers are still "way short" of getting a deal done, while AC Milan have already put together a structured package worth £15m.

Do Southampton prefer Kyle Walker-Peters?

It may be nothing more than a coincidence, but on the morning of the day that West Ham's bid for Cash was reported, Football Insider revealed that Southampton have edged ahead of Crystal Palace in the race to sign Tottenham's Kyle Walker-Peters.

Like Cash, the Tottenham man is also 22 years of age as well as a right-back by trade, and Football Insider have revealed that Spurs are allowing him to leave - the England U21 international has only made three Premier League starts this season, and none since Jose Mourinho was appointed.

Hasenhuttl could do with another right-back in his ranks, as Cedric will be out of contract at the end of the campaign and has already told The Telegraph that he plans to leave once his deal has expired.
