Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to reveal their stance on whether they would have Fraser Forster back at St Mary's or not.

The 6-cap England international left the Saints back in the summer to rejoin Celtic on a season-long loan deal, where he has been in excellent form under Neil Lennon.

Forster has conceded just 22 goals in 34 appearances while also keeping an impressive 15 clean sheets.

The 31-year-old also saved a penalty from Alfredo Morelos to help the Hoops beat Rangers in the Scottish Cup final, while his efforts in the Scottish Premiership have helped Celtic to a ten-point lead over the Gers at the top of the table.

Most recently, Forster pulled off a stunning stop to deny Copenhagen a late goal in the Europa League Round of 32 encounter against the Danish outfit, tipping a penalty onto the post to help the Hoops take a 1-1 draw back to Celtic Park with them.

After he saved the spot-kick, a number of Southampton fans have been discussing whether or not they'd have him back...

To kick off the reaction, Nathan said that from a personal viewpoint, he would happily welcome the Englishman back to St Mary's with open arms as long as the supporters all got behind him.

Kieran then added that there's no need to take him back, as he's clearly very happy at Celtic and should be left there so he can enjoy his football.

Elsewhere, Stuart echoed Kieran's thoughts by saying that it will do Forster no good coming back to St Mary's.

Jamie then said that people have short memories about the towering glovesman, before also adding that he thinks the keeper should remain at Celtic Park.

Lastly, these two fans compared Forster to Southampton's existing options - Alex McCarthy and Angus Gunn.

Dom said that he would like him back and that it's a toss-up between the on-loan Celtic star and Gunn for Ralph Hasenhuttl's No.1 spot, before appearing to take a dig at McCarthy for his positioning at corners and the defending of his near post.

James then defended the former Crystal Palace keeper by saying that he's very good at what he does, so Forster shouldn't be reinstated to the Southampton first-team.
