Charlie Nicholas has revealed just how much of Fraser Forster's wages are being paid by Celtic.

The 6-cap England international re-signed for the Bhoys on a season-long loan deal back in the summer, where he has been in inspired form

Forster has conceded just 20 goals in 31 games for the reigning Scottish champions, while also keeping 14 clean sheets.

The towering glovesman also helped Neil Lennon's side win the Scottish League Cup with a fantastic display in the final at Hampton Park, in which he saved a penalty from Alfredo Morelos and also made a number of superb stops.

What did he say?

When waxing lyrical about Odsonne Edouard, Nicholas wrote in his column for The Express: "They are paying near to £40k-a-week to Southampton for Fraser Forster, I'm led to believe, and there is no commitment to do a transfer at the end of it."

Interesting nugget of information

Before now, it hasn't been detailed just how much of Forster's pay packet has been shifted onto Celtic.

Spotrac claim that the Hexham-born shot-stopper earns £3.64m-a-year, which works out at a weekly salary of £70k-a-week - Southampton have done well to offload over half of their player's wages onto the Scottish giants, in truth.

It is also particularly interesting that Nicholas adds there is no commitment to a permanent deal when the loan deal expires come the end of the campaign, as the future would presumably remain bleak for Forster if he returned and stayed at St Mary's.

Someone's got to own them: Who do these incredibly unwanted PL records belong to?

He would have Alex McCarthy and Angus Gunn ahead of him, with the latter glovesman barely featuring for months - the former Manchester City man has played zero minutes in the Premier League since starting the embarrassing 9-0 defeat to Leicester in October.

It remains to be seen what happens with the England international in the summer.
