The Athletic's Southampton correspondent Carl Anka has revealed which Southampton loanees he thinks will be sold.

The Saints currently have a number of players out on loan, such as Fraser Forster, Guido Carrillo, Mohamed Elyounoussi, Wesley Hoedt and Mario Lemina - Josh Sims, Jake Hesketh, Harrison Reed and Jack Rose are lesser-known players who are also enjoying temporary stints away from St Mary's.

Technically, Cedric Soares and Maya Yoshida are also in that category, although they will be free agents in the summer so their futures are slightly more clear-cut.

Amongst that aforementioned barrage of loanees, Anka has made an interesting revelation regarding four of them.

What did he say?

When asked what the future holds for Lemina, Elyounoussi, Hoedt and Carrillo in a Q&A session on Friday, Anka wrote: "I imagine all of those players will be sold. Especially the last three."

Potentially huge summer clear-out

If Southampton did end up selling all four of these players, it would represent a huge summer clear-out from the club.

It would also see them part ways with over £68m worth of talent.

Southampton signed Carrillo for £19m in a then club-record deal from Monaco. They also signed Lemina for £18.1m from Juventus, while Hoedt cost £15m from Lazio and Elyounoussi was signed from FC Basel for £16m.

In total, those four players cost the Saints a huge £68.1m, while none of them have done anything of note at St Mary's since arriving.

Premier League Inflation: You won't believe how much these famous transfers would cost today...

It would probably be best for Southampton to move these players on, cut their losses and learn from their mistakes.

If Anka is right, and the Saints do sell the out-on-loan quartet, then hopefully some more funds can be provided to Ralph Hasenhuttl as a result.
