Ryan Bertrand has been Southampton captain ever since Mark Hughes took charge of the club back in March, but there are question marks over whether he is the right man for the job.

While the left-back is one of the most experienced names that is regularly on the team-sheet, his general demeanour often means that he doesn't stand out as a natural captain.

The 29-year-old doesn't appear to be as vocal as he could be on the pitch, and perhaps his manager should be considering making a chance in that department following a disappointing start to the Premier League campaign.

Meanwhile, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg as arguably been the south coast outfit's player of the season so far following some majestic performances in the middle of the park alongside Mario Lemina, and he is never short of words on the field as he often barks out instructions to his teammates and encourages them.

The Denmark international speaks well off of the pitch as well and has become a big favourite among the St Mary's faithful in recent times because of this – especially now he is backing it up with top-class performances on the pitch.

So, Southampton fans, do you think Hughes should strip Bertrand of the captaincy and give it to Hojbjerg to try and drive the side forward more? Let us know by voting on our poll below…
