Back on July 2nd, Gillingham confirmed the signing of Alfie Jones on a season-long loan from Southampton. In September, we outlined just how well the 22-year-old was performing at the Priestfield Stadium, making his way into the WhoScored League One Team of the Week - intriguingly, Jones was impressing while being deployed in centre-midfield, defensive-midfield and also at centre-back.This eye-catching form has once again reared it's not-so-ugly head recently.

Specifically, the last outing against Shrewsbury saw Jones grab a 26th minute assist for former Crystal Palace man Stuart O'Keefe's goal, while also delivering a solid performance throughout.

Lining up in a defensive-midfield role for the 15th time of the campaign, the Southampton loanee earned a 7.0 match rating from WhoScored for his display, in which he also won four aerial duels.

Additionally, the Gills No.14 registered two successful tackles, two clearances and one interceptions, while also finding a target with four of his attempted seven long balls.

Gillingham's official Twitter account also retweeted a statistical compilation of his display, in which it is stated that Jones won 100% of his aerial duels and 100% of his ground duels - it was a truly solid showing, and one that helped Steve Evans' men into 12th place in League One.

Jones' display against Shrewsbury continues what is seemingly turning out to be a fruitful adventure two leagues below where his parent club reside.

He is getting an excellent amount of game-time under Evans - the game against Shrewsbury was his 32nd outing of the season in all competitions - while his WhoScored match history will tell you that he has played 90 minutes in every single one of those appearances, 2430 minutes in total.

Someone's got to own them: Who do these incredibly unwanted PL records belong to?

In a competitive division, under a manager who clearly trusts him, Jones is gaining valuable experience while also playing in a number of different positions - Ralph Hasenhuttl presumably can't be much happier with how the loanee's stint away from St Mary's is going.
