Southampton are reportedly ready to make an approach for Norwich City technical director Stuart Webber this month as they look to secure a replacement for Les Reed, who parted company with Saints earlier this month.

The potential move for the 44-year-old, who brought current Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner to the Terriers during his time with the Yorkshire outfit, could suggest that the south coast outfit are keen to reunite the duo.

A report in The Sun earlier this year suggested that chairman Ralph Krueger and co were keen on a summer move for the German manager, but they instead handed a three-year contract to Mark Hughes after he kept the club in the Premier League.

However, results and performances have not really improved this term and Hughes' men only lie outside the top-flight relegation zone on goal difference having won just one of their opening 12 fixtures, with a huge fixture against bottom club Fulham to come at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

Should the Welshman's side slip up against the west London outfit then it will surely be game over for the 55-year-old, with a change needed ahead of a tough six-week period where the club face Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Chelsea, as well as trips to fellow strugglers Huddersfield and Cardiff City.

We decided to ask Southampton fans to vote on our poll to see whether they would like to see Wagner replace Hughes, and a majority 66% said they would, as you can see from the results below.
