Most of the time when a team loses, the fans find criticism in either the performance as a whole or individual players, but Southampton supporters took a different approach.

On Wednesday night, the Saints suffered their sixth Premier League defeat of the season.

Mauricio Pellegrino's side were always going to be the underdogs heading to the Etihad Stadium to face league leaders and unbeaten giants Manchester City.

However, when Oriol Romeu cancelled out Kevin De Bruyne's opener with 15 minutes of the game remaining, Saints fans had a glimmer of hope that their team would pick up a point.

It was not to be, though, as Raheem Sterling continued his trend of scoring late goals by netting the winner in the sixth minute of stoppage time.

Even though it was heartache for the visiting side when the final whistle blew, Romeu was able to find the positives when he revealed his post-match thoughts on Twitter.

Plenty of fans followed his lead by responding to his tweet with praise and optimism.

After all, life is slightly more brighter for Southampton following last weekend's 4-1 thumping over Everton.
