Saints misfit attracted by Celtic switch

Billy Sharp (Southampton)Southampton striker Billy Sharp has confessed that he would find a move to Celtic hard to turn down.

The Bhoys are believed to be tracking the 27-year-old front-man, as manager Neil Lennon prepares to up his transfer activity in the coming weeks.

He sees the Saints hit-man as the ideal replacement for Gary Hooper, who recently left the SPL champions to sign for Norwich.

Sharp, who spent last season with Nottingham Forest, said that it would be tough to say no to Celtic, with the lure of Champions League football a huge factor:

“Celtic is a massive club and attracts huge crowds,” he is quoted by the Daily Star.

“It is a massive club with European football, so why not.”

Sharp has already been told that he is free to find a new club by manager Mauricio Pochettino, who has a wealth of attacking talents to choose from ahead of the new season.

This has alerted Celtic, who are keen to snap up the forward for a reasonable price.

The two clubs have already crossed paths in the transfer market once this summer, with Kenyan ace Victor Wanyama swapping Celtic Park for St Mary’s Stadium.

The Scots will be hopeful that the deal may convince Southampton to allow Sharp to move in the other direction for a bargain price.

Would Celtic be the right option for Billy Sharp?
