In January, Eerste divisie outfit De Graafschap secured the signing of Callum Slattery from Southampton on a deal until the end of the season.

The Saints academy graduate has only ever made five first-team appearances at St Mary's, having made 13 outings for the club's U18 side and 72 for the U23's.

None of those first-team outings have come in the current campaign, hence Southampton's decision to ship him out on loan to get some much-needed experience under his belt - in his latest display for the Dutch side, he registered a landmark moment.

In De Graafschap's league game against Roda, Slattery scored his first goal in senior football with an 85th minute strike to seal all three points, after Mohamed Hamdaoui had opened the scoring just five minutes after replacing Sven Blummel.

The fact that the 21-year-old's goal was his first in senior football wasn't the only thing that was significant about it.

In netting against Roda, Slattery also ensured that he had crowned his home debut for the club with a goal, having made his first appearance for De Graafschap in a 3-2 win away to Jong PSV.

One presumes that Slattery - who The Daily Mail's Secret Scout once described as "captain material" - will remember the moment for a long, long time, and it will surely be even more fondly remembered seeing as it ensured the club grabbed all three points, rather than being a mere consolation strike in a defeat.

De Graafschap's next outing comes on Friday when they face FC Dordrecht in the Eerste divisie, where Mike Snoei's side will be looking to secure three more points in a bid to keep the pressure on league leaders SC Cambuur - Slattery's team are just four points behind the first-placed outfit.

Someone's got to own them: Who do these incredibly unwanted PL records belong to?

It remains to be seen if the Southampton loanee can help his teammates win the league, although he has certainly made a good first impression in front of the home supporters with a goal on his first outing at De Vijverberg.
