Mauricio Pochettino has a selection dilemma ahead of Southampton’s trip to Spurs as Luke Shaw is a doubt.
Shaw has an ankle problem and is a major doubt for Saturday’s trip to Spurs, which would leave Pochettino without a recognised left-back as Danny Fox is suspended.
The Saints boss has indicated right-back Nathaniel Clyne could switch flanks, but that would mean a stand-in right-back would be the man placed in charge of keeping tabs on Spurs star Gareth Bale.
“It’s always a problem when you have one player injured and another banned in the same position,” Pochettino told the Daily Echo. “Clyne has played in that position before so perhaps we will stick him over there.”
Pochettino could call on Frazer Richardson if he decides to use Clyne at left-back, but Richardson has hardly featured due to injury this season and it remains to be seen whether or not the Saints boss will put him up against Bale on Saturday.
