Manolo Gabbiadini scored his first Premier League goal of the season in Southampton’s 1-1 draw with Watford on Saturday afternoon.
It has been a frustrating campaign for the centre-forward, with Saints boss Mark Hughes seemingly not fancying the Italian despite the team’s struggles.
Gabbiadini took his chance to impress against Watford, however, and it was the first time that he had managed 90 minutes for the club this season.
The striker was excellent for Southampton in the second half of the 2016-17 campaign following a January arrival from Napoli, but he managed just five Premier League goals last term.
Gabbiadini has not been without his struggles during the 2018-19 season, but the Watford match could prove to be a turning point.
And the Southampton fans have been on social media hailing the 26-year-old.
Indeed, many of the club’s supporters cannot believe that it has taken Hughes so long to realise that the centre-forward simply has to be in the team.

Considering Gabby hasn’t been given much game time, he worked hard, deserved his goal and needs to be playing regular as do Stuart & Maya along with Jack at the back.

The fact it has taken Hughes this long to work out he is our best attacking player just shows what a terrible manager he is.

Start him or consequences

Gabi is focused energetic and fast. Why oh why has he been on the bench for so long. Keep playing him and he will be the main finisher for saints. We need him
