Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina has been linked with a move to Premier League rivals West Ham United in recent times, and Saints fans have been debating on Twitter whether they would cash in on the Gabon international to fund a move for Chelsea's Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The south coast outfit only signed the 24-year-old from Juventus in an £18m deal last summer, but it was certainly an up-and-down debut campaign at St Mary’s for the African ace, who showed glimpses of the ability he has in locker at times, but disappointed at others.

Meanwhile, Loftus-Cheek faces plenty of competition to get into Maurizio Sarri's starting XI following his return from a successful loan spell with Crystal Palace next term, with Jorginho joining the likes of N'Golo Kante, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Cesc Fabregas and Ross Barkley in the middle of the park.

Southampton supporters, some of whom have been discussing a potential move for a Barcelona star on Twitter, have been quick to have their say on potentially selling Lemina to help them bring Loftus-Cheek in via social media, and while one said "Lemina is a better player", another said "I would swap anyone in the squad for RLC".

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
