Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to discuss Harrison Reed and the club's use of him.

At 24 years of age now, the academy graduate has made just 30 appearances for the Southampton first-team amid a number of spells away from St Mary's on loan - he has never really nailed down a place in the starting XI on the south coast.

Reed has spent time with Norwich and Blackburn in the past, and is currently on a season-long loan with Fulham where he has made 12 Championship appearances so far.

Interestingly, Reed is a versatile figure who can play in central midfield, defensive midfield or on the right flank, which would allow him to play in at least two positions in Ralph Hasenhuttl's preferred 4-2-2-2 formation.

One fan below thinks that Reed could also provide cover at full-back - something that Hasenhuttl may need having started Stuart Armstrong at right wing-back last time out - whereas another supporter said that they would "have him back and playing tomorrow".

Let's take a look at some more of the Twitter reaction...
