Many Southampton fans feel that the club still need to further strengthen their frontline before the transfer window slams shut on August 9, and they have been discussing a potential move for out-of-favour Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen.

The Netherlands international was sent out on a season-long loan spell with Fenerbachce last term following a disappointing debut campaign for the north London outfit, and The Evening Standard report he is now surplus to requirements having been left out of the club's pre-season tour by manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Meanwhile, Mark Hughes has seen Guido Carrillo and Dusan Tadic leave with only Mohamed Elyounoussi arriving at St Mary's, and having scored just 37 goals in their 38 Premier League matches and the likes of Shane Long and Manolo Gabbiadini struggling for form in 2017/18, some fans are understandably concerned.

Southampton supporters, some of whom have been debating selling Mario Lemina to fund a move for a Chelsea star, have been debating whether a move for Janssen could be a good idea, and while one said the Dutchman "reminds me of a certain James Beattie", another said "I'd be tempted to take a punt on him".
