Southampton fans on Twitter are divided after midfielder Mario Lemina was left out of the club's 26-man squad for the pre-season tour to Austria.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a move away from St Mary's after The Telegraph reported last month that Saints were willing to listen to offers for the Gabon international, who confirmed in an interview with Foot Mercato over the weekend that he is seeking pastures new.

The African ace joined the south coast outfit from Juventus two summers ago and is clearly talented when he wants to be, but he has never managed to hold down a regular place in the starting XI under Mauricio Pellegrino, Mark Hughes or Ralph Hasenhuttl in his 52 appearances.

Absence because of an abdominal injury for the majority of the Austrian's time at the helm so far has hardly helped Lemina's case, and he only started once in the team's final five Premier League fixtures in 2018/19 on his return to fitness, remaining an unused substitute in two.

Saints supporters on social media are certainly split over the decision to omit the midfielder from the trip to Austria, with one saying "if we actually sell Lemina I'm done", but another disagreed and believes "his head hasn't been in it for a while now".
