Southampton have had to endure a torrid spell in the Premier League when they went 12 games without a victory.

At the weekend, though, the drought finally ended as Mauricio Pellegrino's team earned a 3-2 victory over West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns.

The Saints' strikers have struggled for form this season, and Shane Long in particular has had a difficult campaign as he has netted just once in 19 top-flight outings.

James Ward-Prowse has been able to contribute from midfield, though, as he has scored three times in the last four league matches.

On Sunday, the coastal club will take on Liverpool at St Mary's, where they managed to beat the Reds 1-0 when the two clubs last played one another at the stadium.

Southampton already have a relationship of sorts with the Merseyside outfit given that they have done plenty of transfer business together.

Over the last few seasons, Liverpool have bought Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne, Dejan Lovren, Sadio Mane and Virgil van Dijk from the Saints.

Ahead of this weekend's match, there has been a hint of optimism from the fans on Twitter due to their recent victory, but others are expecting defeat.
