Southampton took a gigantic step towards securing Premier League survival with a 1-0 win over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday night.

Manolo Gabbiadini scored the only goal of the match as the Saints moved three points clear of the relegation zone.

Southampton's superior goal difference means that only an incredible turn of events on the final weekend of the Premier League season will see Mark Hughes' side relegated.

The Saints conceded late to draw at Everton on Saturday, but collected all three points in Wales.

Gabbiadini's goal was the difference, but Wesley Hoedt put in an impressive performance at the heart of the defence. The Dutchman has had some disappointing games this term, but he came to the forefront in Wales.
