Southampton fans have their say on Crystal Palace’s display against Man United

Crystal Palace fell to a last-gasp 3-2 defeat against Manchester United at Selhurst Park on Monday night, but fans of their relegation rivals Southampton were impressed with what they saw and believe the Eagles have enough to stay up.

Roy Hodgson’s men looked to be on course to pick up all three points and move out of the relegation zone and above Saints in the standings when they led 2-0 early in the second half, but goals from Chris Smalling, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic gave the visitors a victory that was cruel on the hosts.

Despite having a number of stars absent through injury, the south London outfit were dangerous and their players put in plenty of effort – something that hasn’t always seemed to be the case with the south coast outfit this term with under-fire manager Mauricio Pellegrino.

Southampton supporters were quick to have their say on Palace’s display via social media, and while one said “I see more chance of Palace staying up than us on that performance”, another said they are ‘twice the side Southampton or Stoke are’.
