New Southampton manager Mark Hughes' reign got off to a perfect start on Sunday after Saints won 2-0 away to Wigan Athletic to book their place in the FA Cup semi-finals.

While English Premier League survival is the undoubted priority for Hughes and his team, the cup win is a brilliant confidence booster and they will now go on to face Chelsea at Wembley.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Cedric Soares provided the victory, both scoring in the second half to put the game beyond a battling Wigan side.

Fans were delighted with the win and had particular praise for Hojbjerg who, aside from his goal, was a dominating presence in the middle of the park for his side.

Given he has been one of their better players this season, supporters reckon no-one deserved the first goal of the new Hughes era more and can't wait to see if he can continue to improve under the new manager.
