Southampton fans of Twitter have been excitedly commenting after it was revealed that the club have already sold more season tickets for 2019/20 than the whole of the last campaign.

The Saints have flogged nearly 20,000 despite the tickets only being on general sale for a couple of days under a new pricing structure that was introduced this summer.

Two-thirds of season-ticket holders have seen their cost reduce, whilst the other third have had theirs frozen and under-11s will be able to visit every league game at St Mary's in 2019/2020 for a mere £19.

There is a renewed sense of optimism on the south coast in spite of two consecutive terms battling relegation in the Premier League with lofty ambitions under new manager Ralph Hasenhuttl.
