[ad_pod ]Southampton announced via the club's official Twitter account on Sunday that four academy players had signed new contracts, and Saints fans seemed pleased that Dan N'Lundulu in particular had penned fresh terms.

The 20-year-old has extended his stay at St Mary's until 2020, and has been joined in committing his future to the club by Nathan Tella, Oludare Olufunwa and Kieran Freeman.

The striker actually missed the first half of last season through injury, but bounced back to score some important goals – including the opener for the U23s in their PL2 play-off victory against their Newcastle United counterparts in May.

His impressive performances have seen him get the chance to train with the first-team under Ralph Hasenhuttl, and he was filmed setting up a goal for new boy Che Adams in training last week as well as being named in the 26-man squad for the pre-season trip to Austria.

Speaking to southamptonfc.com about the new deal, N'Lundulu said: "I'm working hard with the Under-23s, but of course I want to earn a shot at the first-team. This is one of the biggest seasons of my life and I'm ready to take my chance."

Saints supporters on social media certainly seem happy about the news, with one labelling him as "class" and another calling him a "superb talent".

The news even garnered reaction from a Brazilian Saint, whose comment translated said the centre-forward was "ace".
