Southampton bounced back from successive Premier League defeats by thrashing Everton 4-1 at St Mary's on Sunday, and Saints fans were quick to praise Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg after he put in a man of the match performance on what was a rare start.

The midfielder has found first team minutes hard to come by under Mauricio Pellegrino and he had featured for just six minutes in the top flight this term prior to the clash against the Toffees.

However, with Oriol Romeu suspended and Mario Lemina only deemed fit enough for a place on the substitutes' bench after injury, the 22-year-old was given his opportunity and he took it with both hands with an all-action display.

Southampton fans took to social media to give their thoughts on the Denmark international's display, and while one said "what a performance", another believes "he's someone with a scary amount of potential".
