Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to react after it was reported by CalcioMercatoWeb that Cedric Soares is a target for Italian giants AC Milan.
The Portugal international – who revealed to The Telegraph that he is looking to leave St Mary’s at the end of the season – spent the second half of last term on loan at Milan’s city rivals Inter, and will be out of contract with the Saints this summer.
As a result, the Italian giants have been linked with a move for the former Sporting Lisbon man, who really isn’t in the Southampton supporters’ good books on Twitter.
These fans criticised his performance against Norwich despite Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men picking up three points, while these supporters were livid to see Cedric named in the starting XI for the next game against Newcastle.
This one fan below touched upon how the 28-year-old “might not be in the greatest form”, but stated that going into the second half of the campaign with only Yan Valery at right-back “isn’t going to cut it”.
not unless we can replace him. might not be in the greatest form but having only young Valery at right back for half the season isn’t going to cut it

This fan gave a less considered opinion on the situation, revealing that he would take £5 for the underperforming right-back right now.
The supporter below that said that they would “100% sell” as it would be better to get a fee for the full-back in January rather than lose him for nothing in the summer.
I’d take a fiver for him at the moment

100% sell better than losing him.on a free especially after he said that he wanted to leave. He’s always been good for us imo but recently he’s been quite average. Buy who would replace him with thou cos as much I love Valery we need more of an experienced person

Again, like the fan who said that he’d take £5 for Cedric, this supporter also doesn’t seem to rate the right-back after offering to pay for the Portuguese player’s flights to Milan – it seems safe to say that ‘Danieltheviking” doesn’t hold the Southampton No.2 in high regard.
What’s flight details I’ll pay for it now!!!

Lastly, these two supporters also expressed their doubt over Cedric’s ability in different forms.
‘Mark Perez’ said that the right-back’s agent is a “miracle worker” for getting clubs of AC Milan’s stature to be interested in his client.
Another supporter named ‘Ethan’ told the Saints to “take the money and run” if an approach for Cedric does materialise in January.
