He was once again an impressive performer against the English top flight holders on Bank Holiday Monday, in what was a strong display on the road from Brendan Rodgers' men.

Southampton ended up signing Stuart Armstrong from Celtic last summer – who was presumably the alternative option given his preferred attacking midfield position – but it has been a tough campaign for the Scot.

The 27-year-old has netted three times and laid on two assists in 29 Premier League matches, with all of those goals coming in the space of a week towards the end of 2018.
