Southampton fans were surely left outraged last week when Gareth Southgate's England squad was announced and there was no room for James Ward-Prowse, who has been in sensational form for Saints recently.

The 24-year-old has bagged six goals in his last nine games, including three in his last three, and there were big shouts for his inclusion in the Three Lions group to face Czech Republic and Montenegro - these fell on deaf ears, though.

Fortunately for Ward-Prowse, prayers were answered and, due to a number of injury pull-outs, the Southampton number 16 was finally announced in the squad on Monday.

Having already won a single cap in England white, the free-kick wizard will be hoping to add to that this month, although the competition for starting places remains hot and he will have to seriously impress Southgate and co in training.
