According to Spanish media outlet AS, Sevilla wanted to sign Spartak Moscow forward and former Southampton target Quincy Promes before the deadline on Friday, and even though a move has fallen through via Football Espana, Saints fans have been quick to have their say on the link surrounding the Dutchman.
Sky Sports reported during the January transfer window that the south coast outfit had a £25m offer rejected for the Netherlands international, as a potential club-record move failed to materialise.
The club then only narrowly avoided relegation to the Championship, with The Daily Mail also reporting at the time that they hoped to resurrect a deal for the prolific 26-year-old this summer.
Southampton supporters have taken to social media to give their thoughts on the Promes rumour, and while one said “we’ve got this brand new world-class Redmond”, another said “ready for the meltdown”.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
Looks like Quincy Promes is likely to go to Sevilla before the end of the European window. The rumoured fee seems to be around €20-25m – less than #saintsfc were allegedly willing to pay in January.

Wasn’t there some need for them to grab someone else before they would willingly sell to us? Maybe they had Promes price hiked to account for the missing player/paying over the odds in Jan but without that desperation the price could come down?

In my humble opinion… that deal was pure bullshit anyway
