Former Southampton attacker Sadio Mane scored a hat-trick for Liverpool in their 5-0 win against FC Porto in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 knockout tie on Wednesday night, and Saints fans were quick to have their say on the 25-year-old's display.

The south coast outfit sold the Senegal international to the Reds in the summer of 2016 after he netted 25 goals in 75 appearances in all competitions for them, including a treble against Aston Villa in just two minutes and 56 seconds.

The forward didn't quite beat that record in Portugal, although he has now scored 25 goals in just 57 matches for Jurgen Klopp's side as they look set to cruise through to the quarter-finals of Europe's elite club competition.

Southampton supporters took to social media to give their thoughts on Mane's latest performance, and while one said "damn I miss him here", another said "what could have been".

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
