According to Swiss media outlet Blick, Southampton have once again been mentioned as a potential destination for Stoke City winger Xherdan Shaqiri this summer, and Saints fans have been quick to react to the rumour.

Blick have rubbished reports that the 26-year-old, who looks set to leave the Britannia Stadium this summer after the Potters suffered relegation, wants a move to Galatasaray with a return to the Premier League instead more likely with the south coast outfit, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton all mentioned as possible clubs he could sign for.

Manager Mark Hughes certainly knows him well having brought him to England from Bayern Munich in 2016, and if he was reunited with the Switzerland international then he would finally have some more competition for the likes of Nathan Redmond and Dusan Tadic out wide and in attacking midfield, and a potential replacement for the out of favour Sofiane Boufal.

Southampton supporters, the majority of whom don't want to sign Newcastle United's best attacker, took to social media to give their thoughts on the potential addition, and while one said he would be a "replacement for Boufal", another said "give them Redmond and some cash".

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction...
