According to southamptonfc.com, Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has confirmed that Danny Ings will miss this weekend's clash with Cardiff City, and Saints fans have been quick to react.

The 26-year-old, who is currently on loan at the club from Liverpool but will join them on a permanent £20m deal in the summer, is set to miss around two to three weeks with a hamstring injury and will certainly be out of this weekend's vital fixture at the bottom of the table.

Southampton, currently sitting 16th, could move five points clear of the relegation zone if they win the game, while Cardiff, in 18th, could move out of the bottom three if they are victorious.

Ings has been in fine form for Saints thus far this season, scoring seven goals and providing one assist in 18 Premier League outings.

It is likely that either Shane Long or Charlie Austin will replace him up top against Neil Warnock's side.

And Southampton fans have expressed their disappointment that Ings will be absent, as they look to record a morale-boosting win this weekend.
