Southampton fans react to Manolo Gabbiadini tweet after Swansea win

Southampton striker Manolo Gabbiadini posted on Twitter on Wednesday to say that he was “still buzzing” following his crucial winning goal in the 1-0 victory against fellow strugglers Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday night, and Saints fans were quick to react.

It has been a disappointing campaign for the 26-year-old, who started the season in the starting XI but has gradually fallen down the pecking order as the months have gone on, finding himself as third-choice behind Charlie Austin and Shane Long under Mark Hughes in recent weeks.

The Italy international’s goal in south Wales was his first since February, and he has only played 23 minutes of Premier League football since the end of March to throw his future at St Mary’s into further doubt.

Southampton supporters, who witnessed a performance from Wesley Hoedt that suggested he should be a regular starter next term, took to social media to respond to the tweet from their hero, and while one said “we need you”, another said “give us another year, you know the fans love you”.
