Southampton fans react to Moussa Djenepo’s latest Mali display

Southampton new boy Moussa Djenepo played an hour for Mali in their 2019 AFCON win against Mauritania on Monday, and Saints fans on Twitter were quick to deliver their verdict on his performance.

The south coast outfit signed the winger in a deal which could rise to £15m from Standard Liege this month, with the 21-year-old scoring 11 goals and providing a further six assists for the Belgian outfit last term.

The talented wide man started on the left for his country on Monday, showing how he is capable of cutting inside on his right foot and shooting – how his only effort of the match came about.

The African showed signs that he will be perfect for manager Ralph Hasenhuttl’s preferred pressing games because of his pace and work rate, but he also made a few questionable tackles from a defensive viewpoint – one of which he was booked for.

Djenepo will hope to be a regular in the starting XI at St Mary’s next term alongside the likes of Nathan Redmond and Danny Ings in attack, and Southampton supporters certainly have mixed views on their first glimpse of their recent addition.
