According to reports in the Daily Mail, Southampton had their hotel reservation near the Liberty Stadium ahead of their crucial relegation clash against Swansea City on Tuesday night cancelled at the last minute, and Saints fans have been quick to react to the rumour.

The Daily Mail says that the Marriott told the south coast outfit on Sunday that they could no longer stay there on Monday night because of a virus, but the venue is still open to the public which suggests foul play could be at work.

The report says that Mark Hughes, who should look to implement a new-look attack against the Swans, and his players stayed at the Vale of Glamorgan near Cardiff instead, and it could be an unwelcome distraction before a vital Premier League encounter where the winner would be on the verge of staying up, with the other all-but down.

Southampton supporters took to social media to give their thoughts on the controversial situation, and while one labelled it as "ridiculous", another said "I'm disgusted".
