Reported Southampton target Jarrod Bowen scored a double for Hull City in their 2-2 draw against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium on Sunday, and Saints fans were quick to discuss the in-form attacker on Twitter.

The 22-year-old took his tally of goals to 11 in 17 Championship games this term with his brace against Jonathan Woodgate's men – not bad seeing as he usually plays from the right wing.

His first was a rocket of a shot that left Darren Randolph with no chance, and it was another display that showed exactly what he is capable of – no wonder The Express report that the south coast outfit and Newcastle are reportedly keen to sign the £20m-rated player in January.

It would certainly be something of a risk though seeing as summer addition Che Adams has flopped so far, with the £15m striker yet to score and being left out of the squad entirely for the 2-2 draw against Arsenal at the Emirates on Saturday.

Southampton supporters have been discussing Bowen after his latest showing, and it's fair to say that the majority were impressed with what they say.

One has labelled him as "far better than Che", while another believes he has the quality to "come in and take Redmond's place".

Hull look to face an uphill battle to keep hold of a player whose contract expires in June – although they have the option to extend by a further 12 months – in the New Year, but it remains to be seen whether Saints make their move.
