Southampton bounced back from successive Premier League defeats to beat Everton 4-1 at St Mary's on Sunday, and Saints fans were quick to react when defender Wesley Hoedt posted on his official Twitter account after the game.

Losses against Burnley and Liverpool had seen the south coast outfit slip down the table as well as increasing the pressure on manager Mauricio Pellegrino, but they relieved some of that with a fine performance against the Toffees.

Hoedt cut a frustrated figure just a few weeks ago when he was being kept out of the team by Virgil van Dijk and Maya Yoshida at the heart of the defence, but the start against the Merseyside outfit was his third in the last four top flight matches.

Southampton supporters took to social media to reply to Dutchman's tweet, and while one said he is "becoming a big fans' favourite", another simply said the centre-back was "unreal".
