Southampton's director of football operations Ross Wilson has resigned from his position at St Mary's Stadium ahead of joining Scottish Premiership leaders Rangers later this month, per The Daily Telegraph.

Wilson has been a key figure in the club's recruitment over the last few years, most notably with the sale of Virgil van Dijk, as the club managed to net huge profits after his £75m sale to Liverpool.

The 36-year-old was also responsible for signing the likes of club captain Pierre-Emile Hojberg, Nathan Redmond, and Moussa Djenepo.

Another member of the Saints faithful claimed he's been the reason behind the club facing back-to-back seasons in a relegation battle while one more simply said "good riddance."
