Southampton can be quite content with their 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday as the Eagles are rarely easy opposition for any side, having picked up results against the likes of Manchester United, Wolves and Arsenal this term.

Indeed, the Saints could easily have lost against the London club as VAR helped them on their way to earning a point, but despite a positive result, there were still some negatives from the ninety minutes.

Indeed, a number of Saints supporters had complaints about Sofiane Boufal’s performance against Roy Hodgson’s side, and you can understand why.

The winger was hooked in the 67th minute having failed to make a single key pass or have a shot at goal, despite making six dribbles.

Boufal’s performance was very flash but seemingly not very productive, and the St Mary’s faithful were far from happy with him.

Rather than simply complaining about the Moroccan’s showing against Palace, some fans were eager to offer up a solution.

It seems as if the general consensus around the fanbase is that the winger would be better served as a late impact sub with Stuart Armstrong as the starting option.

With Boufal being so effective when running with the ball, making six dribbles against Palace, that idea does seem to be spot on. Getting him running at tired legs could be very effective.

In other news, it seems as if the Saints are targeting a man who could be perfect for their manager.
