Nigel Adkins spent three years in charge of Southampton between 2010 and 2013.

The Birkenhead-born coach earned promotions to the Championship and Premier League in back-to-back seasons during his time at St Mary's.

Midway through the club's first campaign back in the top flight, Adkins was sacked and replaced with Mauricio Pochettino, who is now at the helm of Tottenham Hotspur.

Adkins has had a handful of jobs since leaving St Mary's in 2013, including coaching spells at Reading and Sheffield United.

Now, the 52-year-old is the manager of Hull City, but some Southampton fans have expressed a desire for their former boss to return.

The desire comes from the fact that they are disappointed with the current leader - Mauricio Pellegrino.

As it stands, the Saints are staring at relegation from the Premier League as the club are one point from safety after winning just five of their 27 games in the division.

After listening to Adkins's pre-match press conference for Hull's trip to Chelsea in the FA Cup, Southampton fans tweeted their admiration for their ex-manager.
