Southampton fans want Mark Hughes gone despite reports claiming he’ll be given more time

Southampton are in serious trouble as their latest defeat leaves the south coast side in the bottom three.

A real six-pointer in November between Mark Hughes’ strugglers and Championship Play-Off winners Fulham went the way of the bottom-placed Cottagers on Saturday, as Claudio Ranieri won his first game in charge.

Fulham had been proactive in seeking a solution to one win from 12 – the same record Southampton held – and took the decision heading into the international break to sack Slavisa Jokanovic.

One game and one win for Ranieri moved Fulham to level on points with Southampton as the season reaches the one-third stage – a worse goal-difference now the only separator.

Unfortunately for Saints fans, the board look set to give Hughes more time to turn things around. A recent report in the Telegraph suggests that while the clock may be ticking, club chiefs still back the ex-Wales international.

It is said that the St Mary’s board do not wish to make what will be a fourth managerial change since the summer of 2016 and Hughes’ three-year contract, signed at the end of last season, is a key factor in any decision.

These Southampton fans will certainly not be pleased and made it abundantly clear on Twitter how they feel about Hughes…
