According to reports in The Mirror on Monday, Southampton are considering Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic as a potential replacement for Mauricio Pellegrino who looks set to get the sack this summer, and Saints fans are backing a potential move for the 49-year-old.
The Mirror reports that the unpopular Pellegrino will get the boot whether the south coast outfit stay up or suffer relegation to the Championship, with the club currently lying just one point above the drop zone ahead of their huge clash against 16th-placed Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Cottagers extended their unbeaten run to 14 Championship matches and maintained their bid for automatic promotion to the Premier League as they beat Sheffield United 3-0 at Craven Cottage on Tuesday night, with the Serbian boss even receiving admiring glances from West Ham fans.
Southampton supporters have been quick to have their say on the possibility of Jokanovic replacing Pellegrino via social media, and while one said “get in my club Slavisa Jokanovic”, another simply said “Jokanovic in”.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…

Wanted Jokanovic last summer. He has got Fulham playing so well the last couple of seasons, but if #FFC go up and #SaintsFC go down, we have no chance. The news, if true, means there are no motives for MoPe to try and achieve here, which, in fairness, may not make a difference…

Jokanovic sounds good, can bring Sessegnon too😉

I think they would both be excellent replacements. Jokanovic has got Fulham playing some great stuff & is doing a decent job whilst Potter has achieved miracles at Ostersunds and warrants a chance.
